Description: The oldest photograph in this collection, dating from around 1860, this view down Nottingham Street towards the town centre was taken before the Baptist Church was built on the site of the white, thatched-roof house on the far left. Opposite is the Eight Bells pub which closed in 1924. Note the old water pump just outside it.
