Description: The corner of Market Place looking towards South Parade. The Barnes Block (demolished in 1966) is on the left. The printers and stationers, J Townes (this is one of their postcards), have moved from one side of King Street to the other, into the shop which is today WH Smith. Pearks Stores occupy their old premises; white aprons giving the clue that it has become a dairy.
