Melton Mowbray print

Description: A view of the 'Carnegie Free Library' on Thorpe End, now the home of the town's museum. Beyond the small shop is Tuxford and Tebbitts' pork-pie and Stilton cheese factory, built in 1867 and still there today (although pies ceased to be made in 1966). Opened in 1904, the library was funded by Scottish-born American steel baron, Andrew Carnegie. It became the town's museum in 1977.
