Welcome to Remember Melton Mowbray

Remember Melton Mowbray DVD
At the end of 2007 I produced a DVD called 'Remember Melton Mowbray' (left). It features old photographs of the town such as the one on the right. Some date back as far as the 1880s.
I've put all the photos from the DVD on this site, along with captions. I've also taken some photographs showing how the various scenes look today.
The DVD is split into seven chapters. Click on any of the links on the right to view the images in each chapter.
At one time I sold the DVD on this site, but I couldn't sell enough to cover the costs involved. I now offer them on eBay. Or it's possible to pick up a copy in Melton Bookshop in Leicester Street.

YouTube clip: Melton Mowbray in 1846
During my research for the DVD, I came across a wonderful illustration of the town on a hand-drawn map dated 1875 (above). It shows the town in the year 1846 - before the railway arrived.
In December 2008, I put a clip panning across the image on YouTube. Click here (or left) to view it. And click here for more information about the illustration.
There are another three similar pen and wash drawings on the map. They would make a very attractive set of prints. If anyone is interested in these, please use my contact page to get in touch.
